The Week in Reviews, Op. 320: Njioma Grevious; James Ehnes; Lyris Quartet

• Chicago Classical Review: "Sunday’s soloist, the young, exceptionally gifted, D.C.-based violin virtuoso Njioma Grevious, did a terrific job with the piece, digging into the rocking, Vivaldi-esque arpeggios that occupy the latter pages."

James Ehnes performed Beethoven’s Kreutzer and Spring sonatas, in recital with pianist Stewart Goodyear.

• Boston Musical Intelligencer: "...the players listened to each other expectantly and successfully negotiated all the comings and goings. Have we ever heard more perfectly aligned simultaneous trills?"

The Lyris Quartet performed a "Twin Towers" 9/11 anniversary concert with Jacaranda Music in Santa Monica, Calif.

• Violinist.com: "(Steve) Reich's unique language went straight to the emotions of this horrible day and its aftermath without any need for translation, and the musicians of the Lyris Quartet, with live-sound mixer Scott Fraser, met the challenge of synchronizing with a pre-recorded track in a way that brought experience alive."

The Borromeo String Quartet performed quartets by Beethoven, Hailstork and Brahms at Maverick Concerts in Woodstock, N.Y.

• The Boston Musical Intelligencer: "When we get to hear an ensemble with the reputation of the Borromeo String Quartet...we expect something special. The group’s concert on September 5th lived up to expectations in numerous respects."

Grace Clifford performed Chausson's Poème with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
