By Laurie Niles: In an effort to promote the coverage of live violin performance, Violinist.com each week presents links to reviews of notable concerts and recitals around the world. Philippe Quint performed the Korngold with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
  • Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: "The absolute highlight was violinist Philippe Quint soloing with Mann and the orchestra in the Violin Concerto by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, a brilliant piece brilliantly played."

Jennifer Koh performed the Salonen with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
  • Cincinnati Enquirer: "It was an arresting performance to watch. Her music alternated between technical fireworks, sometimes punctuated by percussion, and slow, ethereal themes where the violinist’s phrasing was bleak and interior."
Richard Tognetti performed works by Sculthorpe, Brahms and Pärt, in recital with pianist Polina Leschenko.
  • The Guardian: "Tognetti, spotlit and alone, played to a microphone that created a cathedral-like resonance, with a muted, throbbing echo that emphasised the piece’s heat-hazy atmosphere, all open space, outback birdsong and itchy dance rhythms."
Eoin Andersen performed the Salonen with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
  • The Press: "Andersen battled this demanding score with courage and his rapport with the orchestra was exemplary, especially in those little cameos with solo viola and cello. Earning the peace of the more reflective passages later on in the serene Adieu, Andersen showed beauty as well as beast. I look forward to his return, hopefully with another contemporary work to whet our appetites."
Viktoria Mullova performed an all-Bach program with Accademia Bizantina.
  • The New York Times: "On Tuesday she seemed to struggle to build depth in her sound and produced a distracting number of whistle tones."
