The Tale of the Golden Cockerel: Playing with Character

By LEIA ZHU: Hello my friends, hope you enjoyed my first blog. And here I did a follow up from my first my 5 day challenge video with the story behind the Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov's adaptation on the "The Tale of the Golden Cockerel" by Alexander Pushkin. Pushkin wrote the tale in 1834 and Korsakov made his adaptation in 1907. Technique is paramount to anyone wanting to be a serious musician. But how do you bring the music alive? Knowing and understanding the story behind the music is equally essential – it will help you find a character, which in turn informs how you approach. I must believe the character I play is truthful. Finding the character and bringing the character to live is the ultimate goal when I play my music. You might also like:
